Neighborhood Activities
Bucknell Manor is less than a mile from Alexandria, but the community is actually in Fairfax County. Fairfax County is considered by many to be one of the wealthiest and most dynamic counties in America.

Bucknell is a community with vibrant Little Leagues,
soccer leagues, football leagues and more.
Basketball
Basketball courts are found at Bucknell Manor Park and at Quander Road School. Area youth leagues such as MVYAA and adult leagues are open for play indoors.
Fitness Center
The Mount Vernon Recreation Center has a fully equipped facility. Gold's, Curves and other commercial work-out facilities are very close by.
Hiking, Biking
Check out our bike trails! The trails which surround Bucknell tie into bike trails, jogging paths and hiking trails in the surround park system. These trails in turn network with a system of trails which lead to Mount Vernon (5 miles south) to the south and National Airport (5 miles north). Some residents use these trails to bike into Washington, DC.
Golf, Tennis, Racquetball
Bucknell residents have many options. Down Fort Hunt Road at Hollin Hills there are two very nice public tennis courts. The Mount Vernon Rec Center has courts as well. The Belle Haven Country Club golf course and courts are close by.
Restaurants
There's no end of choices in the surrounding area. In the immediate area is a Greek/American restaurant, Indian restaurant, and good fast food.
In Old Towne, a fickle gourmand can always find something to suit his budget and tastes: Le Gaulois, La Madeliene, King St. Blues, South Austin Grill, Murphy's Pub, Las Tapas and many more. On Jefferson Davis Highway ("restaurant row"), a wide variety of chain restaurants and local talent offer a more suburban feel: Applebee's, T.G.I Friday's, Chili's, Chevy's, Old Country Buffet, Chipotle and every fast food chain.

Upscale or downscale or anywhere in between, it's all close by. Bucknell is strategically located close to warehouse stores like Target, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Walmart, Petsmart, Staples and more. But Bucknell is also close to the boutiques, respected and high-end chains of Old Towne: Joseph A. Bank, the Gap, Banana Republic, Bombay Company, Restoration Hardware, Anne Taylor, Talbot, Chico's, and many more.

The Washington monuments are just three miles away. The Washington Wizards, Washington Capitols, Washington Nationals, DC United and our beloved Washington Redskins delight local sports fans.
